Filip Kohn turned his first home race with the Fabia RS Rally2 in the AUTOSPEKTRUM Škoda Team dealer team into seventh place in the challenging Milkservis Rallye Šumava Klatovy. Together with his British co-driver Ross Whittock, he held on to sixth place until the end of the competition, moving up to seventh place just two stages before the finish.
Rally Šumava is demanding in all weather conditions and traditionally tests the readiness of all crews at the start of the season. This year was no exception, as it rained heavily in the vicinity of Klatovy on Friday and it was unclear whether the special stages would dry out by the start of the competition. And the fact that it would be no fun was immediately shown by the initial test, which had to be cancelled after Adam Březík's accident. However, the competition soon continued at a fast pace, set mainly by the Austrian Simon Wagner. Filip Kohn held on to sixth place and set times less than a second per kilometer slower than the leading crew. "The first stage was very slippery, there were several wet spots in the other tests as well. That's why we chose softer tires and it was a good decision. During the day, we hardened the car and looked for optimal grip. I mainly focused on myself so as not to make any unnecessary mistakes and to be able to gradually accelerate," commented Filip Kohn on the first stage.
