Filip Kohn: we take seventh place from Krumlov

After the opening event in Klatovy, the Czech Rally Championship continued this weekend with the 53rd edition of the Rally Český Krumlov. The South Bohemian competition is famous for its pleasant May atmosphere and challenging special stages, some of which were also tried by the crews of the World Central European Rally a year ago. The list of registered participants included the duo Filip Kohn – Petr Těšínský, who were among the 22 crews of the strongest rally group2. Filip Kohn took seventh place in the numerous competition.

Our domestic championship has a long-term high level and the large number of competitors means only one thing: from start to finish, the race is at a high pace and it is not unusual to fight for victory until the last photocell. Filip Kohn is starting this season with the highly experienced navigator Petr Těšínský and the cooperation works perfectly. The rider from Příbram started in Krumlov for the first time last season, so compared to the others, he has driven significantly less on the local tracks. "There was a lot of fire from the start, Krumlov is also famous for its many blind spots, so for us it was mainly about trusting the schedule 100%, not making mistakes and not taking unnecessary risks," explains Filip Kohn.

The Kohn – Těšínský crew started the first stage with times in the top ten and were particularly competing for seconds with Cvrček and Kundlák. In the standings, they held tenth position after the first six stages. "We weren't quite at the top, but that was to be expected. Our goal was to set decent times and reduce the loss per kilometer compared to the fastest crews," continues the rider from Příbram.

The final stage had seven tests on the agenda, including two runs through the 28-kilometer Malonty. In the first run, Jan Kopecký, who had been third so far, lost 4 minutes when he punctured his tire on the pedestal of an antique car that was lying in the track after contact with another car. Václav Pech also suffered a puncture and both kings of Czech rallies fell down the order. Filip Kohn moved ahead of Věroslav Cvrček and finished the demanding competition in seventh place. "Malonty was driven in the opposite direction, so it was completely new to me, but I enjoyed it. I also liked Malšín and the other stages. I have a positive feeling about Sunday, we drove at our own pace without any crises or punctures, so we managed to have a clean race. Considering the competition, we take seventh place and are looking forward to Hustopeče," added Filip Kohn.

The next challenge for Filip Kohn and Petr Těšínský will be Hustopeče in South Moravia, which will take place on June 12-13, 2026.
